We Travel for Destination Weddings Across the PNW
Cascade Light Photography is a destination wedding photographer for the Pacific Northwest. While we're based in Seattle, our portfolio is built across the entire region — from waterfront ceremonies on Orcas Island to alpine elopements at Mount Rainier, from vineyard receptions at Lake Chelan to misty cliff-edge celebrations on the Oregon coast. If your wedding is happening anywhere in the PNW, we're the Washington destination wedding photographer who already knows the roads, the weather, the light, and the hidden corners of where you're going.
The Pacific Northwest is one of the most extraordinary destination wedding regions in the country. In a single weekend you can drive from old-growth rainforest to high-desert sagebrush, from saltwater shorelines to glacier-capped peaks. Couples from Seattle, Portland, California, and across the country choose the PNW for their destination wedding precisely because the landscape is this varied — and because the light here, especially in late summer and early fall, is some of the best in the world for wedding photography.
As your PNW destination wedding photographer, we approach a multi-day wedding very differently than a one-day Seattle ceremony. We arrive early, scout your venue and surrounding landscape in person, build redundancy into our gear and travel plans, and stay through the entire weekend — rehearsal dinner, welcome party, ceremony, reception, and post-wedding brunch if you're hosting one. The result is a much richer story than a single day's coverage could ever provide.

Travel Fees, Logistics & What's Included
For destination wedding clients, transparency about logistics matters as much as the photography itself. Here's exactly how we structure travel for Pacific Northwest destination weddings:
Travel Within 100 Miles of Seattle — Included
Anything within 100 miles of downtown Seattle is included in our standard packages with no travel fee. That covers Snoqualmie, Mount Rainier (most access points), Leavenworth, the Skagit Valley, Whidbey Island, Hood Canal, and most of the Olympic Peninsula day-trip destinations.
100-300 Miles — Flat Travel Fee
For destinations like the San Juan Islands (ferry included), Lake Chelan, Methow Valley, Bend, the Oregon coast, and North Idaho, we charge a flat travel fee of $400-$800 depending on distance. This covers fuel, ferries, one or two nights of lodging for our team, and the additional time on the road.
300+ Miles or Multi-Day Coverage — Custom Quote
For destination weddings further afield in the PNW, or for full weekend coverage including welcome parties and farewell brunches, we put together a custom quote that covers travel, lodging for our team, and the expanded coverage hours. Most full-weekend PNW destination weddings land between $5,500 and $9,500 all-in.
Planning & Logistics Support for Destination Clients
Destination wedding photography is half logistics. As your PNW destination wedding photographer, we provide a custom timeline built around the specific lighting and access conditions of your venue, recommendations on how early your team should arrive, gear redundancy plans (we always travel with backup bodies, lenses, and storage), and a contingency plan for PNW weather. We also coordinate directly with your planner or venue coordinator so you don't have to play telephone with a dozen vendors.
Why Hire a Local PNW Photographer for Your Destination Wedding
Couples sometimes consider flying in a photographer from elsewhere — and we always encourage them to hire local. A destination wedding photographer Pacific Northwest based knows the landscape, the microclimates, the road conditions, the ferry schedules, and the specific quirks of every venue out here. You don't want to find out at noon on your wedding day that your photographer didn't budget for the actual drive time from Anacortes to Roche Harbor. We have.
PNW Destination Wedding Photography FAQ
What counts as a destination wedding in the PNW?
We consider any wedding requiring at least one night of overnight travel for our team to be a destination wedding. That typically means San Juan Islands, Leavenworth, Methow Valley, Lake Chelan, the Olympic Peninsula's western edge, Bend, the Oregon coast, North Idaho, and similar locations 2+ hours from Seattle.
How much does a PNW destination wedding photographer cost?
Pacific Northwest destination wedding photography from Cascade Light starts at $3,800 for shorter coverage and ranges up to $9,500 for full multi-day weekend coverage with travel, lodging, and a second photographer included. Locations within 100 miles of Seattle have no travel fee.
Do you cover Oregon and Idaho weddings, or only Washington?
We cover the entire Pacific Northwest, which for us includes all of Washington State, all of Oregon (especially the coast, the Gorge, and Bend), and the panhandle of Idaho around Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint. We've also occasionally traveled into Western Montana for PNW-style mountain weddings.
How far in advance should I book a destination wedding photographer?
For PNW destination weddings, we recommend booking 10-14 months out. Peak season dates (July through early October) at popular destinations like the San Juan Islands and Lake Chelan book up earliest. Off-season destination weddings can sometimes be booked on shorter notice.
